Hi Red Haircrow, Just came to visit and read a little. <3
Thank you for the visit and hope you find something which interests you. Our situation is both more complex and far simpler than some others from the forum. My 100% concern is the children, first, foremost and always. Here though, although I will always express my thoughts regarding current events or things which draw my attention, you’ll also find information and updates about my books and writing projects.
Ch-Weh,
Hello Red, my name is Cha Geh Aw Reh Say’ Ewh. (Concerning Heart) in my language. I’m Haudenasaune (People of The Longhouse). I’m of the Tuscarora people. I love saying hello to different Natives. If that is a picture of you above. Your beautiful.
Are u still over in Europe or are you back in the states? You write Our books. Do your write with more than one name or is there another author who writes with you?
Yeah, Yeah, I know I’m being nosey. But sometimes when you want to find things out you have to ask. I see your links, one of the Links is GLBT. I’m being nosey again are you gay? I’m bi and I have several gay men for my bff’s. Everybody deserves to be love and thats how it should be.
With you being Native I wanted to get to know you and possibly become friends. You never can have enough friends. What Nation are you from and do you do the Pow Wow circuit. My son has a drumgroup that travels all over. I’m a dancer and singer with my Nations Dance and Song Troupe and we travel a lot too.
Okay I babbling now. I hope we can be friends. Take care and may the Creator bless you always.
Teresa K.
Ya a tey, I am Chiricahua Apache and Cherokee, and most people have told me my look gives the impression of antagonism. If you can believe that :-) I am in the southeast, so I don’t do the major pow-wow circuit, but locally I do attend them fairly regularly. I was president of the parent’s committee for Native American education in our school system, and still weekly work with native children and anyone else who wants to learn drumming, singing, crafts, etc.
I am currently in the USA, just at the edge of making the decision of whether to head back to Germany, or someplace in Europe. That will probably win out, and I will go at some point. It is hard to be away during pow-wow season.
Generally, it’s suggested any profile, etc. be written in third person, so that’s what I did with the headings also. I do not currently write with any other names, this is my public tribal name, and the one I’m known by. In the past, I have used other names or if you ran across psychology journals to which I’ve submitted articles, I’ve used my English name. I do not write with any other authors.
I never mind if someone leaves comments, questions or feedback. Thanks, and anytime. I am around fairly regularly online if I am able. Pleased to meet you and thanks for taking the time to write. Of course you can contact me through email, but I am most often to be found online at Twitter or Goodreads.com for interactive aps more like real-time http://www.goodreads.com/author/show/4026156.Red_Haircrow#
OMG,
I too am from the Southeast also. I currently reside in NC. And I sure hope you dont leave. Our people need someone who cares about the children and the elders.
Your there champion and don’t stop being that. I’m also on Goodreads I will have to look you up. Thanks for answering me back.
Oo-Neh,
Teresa K
Hey Red,
I like your site. It’s got a clean layout that makes it easy to find things, and yet the header keeps it visually exciting. Nice work.
I too am of Native descent, but sadly haven’t had the opportunity to learn much about my people. My father’s father did something that got him kicked out of the tribe…or at least that’s the story I was told. And all the folk who would actually know what happened are gone now. So I read what I can find about my grandfather’s people, and do my best to teach my daughter about her heritage.
I was stationed in Germany for three years. My kliene maus was born in Gelnhausen Krankenhaus. I plan to take her back to visit the land of her birth in a year or two.
I love the term, two-spirited. Berdache right? Okay, I’m just rambling now, and I need to get out for a walk. I just wanted to stop by and say hello. I’ll send you a friend request on Goodreads. I have a twitter acct, but don’t use it much…though I’m trying to change that.
So, hoping you have a lovely day, and that you may be well,
Cherie Noel
That’s good to know about the layout. I extensively changed it this past January because I couldn’t find what I was looking for, and I knew it was there…somewhere.
There’s always time to learn if one is interested. Yes, I understand what you say about your father’s father. I have a mixed heritage, and in the Cherokee side, there is not so strict tribal laws and traditions, but in the Chiricahua Apache side, it is quite extensive, and it’s a fine line between the “new” world and the tribal world which can be considered harsh by some standards. In general, people don’t know that.
Yes, berdache is the word introduced by the French. I wrote an article about two spirits. As I am a writer of gay fiction also, the topic came up and…and well, the entry explains :-) http://redhaircrow.com/2010/12/07/two-spirit-tradition-history-and-future/
Thanks for the message, and we’ll see you around the web.
I’m glad I stumbled across your blog. I’ll be back to check out more. Looking forward to exploring your writing and photography.
Gerne, as we say here in Germany, “with pleasure.”
Hello – I’d like to buy a copy of your short story ‘The Caravaggio and the Swan’. Can you please let me know where I can do so? Much thanks.
I appreciate the interest, but that particular story is not currently available for sale.
