In Painful Winter Cold, Remembering Summer in Photos
Here in Berlin, day-time temperatures are around -10°C, and it is, of course, going to get colder and more snow is on the way, though the past few days have featured cloudless, crisp blue skies. So I thought I’d do a photo memory of summer in Germany, mostly Berlin…but throughout the region as well. I hope you enjoy!
Looking at the photos of Scharmützelsee, you’ll see the colors are very vibrant. These photos are all “natural”, no retouches or enhancements. The German summer, especially in the country or at lake side is perfectly splendid and the colors are unbelievably vivid.

Beautiful! Thank you for sharing.
Thanks, it was enjoyable to go back through the photos and remember.
The countryside pictures are nice and look very much like where I live. However, in the SE US we have brutal summers with really high hummidity. This year we’ve had an unnaturally warm winter, so we’re going to have a very buggy summer :-/
Yes, actually those photos look very similar to where my parents live on a river in Alabama also. Summer is humid and brutal there, too, so much so that since my son and I have become acclimatized to the mild German summer, when back in the US in summer it is miserable. In the area of Germany I am now, it only gets a few truly hot days, but not like compared to GA or AL.
