Being selected for a digital showcase is important me, and I am deeply thankful. As a BIPOC writer whose fiction works were first published almost 20 years ago, with a long break between publications until 2024, interview and spotlight opportunities have been rare.
Helping my son on his journey as a transgender person revealing his identity, and completing two degrees in psychology and history, after moving internationally were tough realities I needed to prioritize although my characters and stories always remained in my mind, keeping me company, waiting for their premiere.
Words cannot convey how difficult the journey has been in many ways, but my writing, both fiction and non-fiction, are sources of empowerment, of healing, and finding joy and satisfaction in everyday life and living despite hard times or traumas.
These concepts are conveyed through my characters, their struggles and triumphs, and through overcoming various struggles to find love, friendship and acceptance. “The Agony of Joy” is the best example of this, with an important foreword and note for read. Overall, I write to continue growing, teaching and learning to be a better human being.”
