Impromptu Interview with Red Haircrow

Today, a visitor asked me a number of questions, so I thought I’d create a short post with my replies. Whoever asks me a question, whether I’ve “seen” them before or not in whatever form, I choose to answer.

What Nation are you from and do you do the Pow Wow circuit?

Ya a tey, I have Chiricahua Apache and Cherokee heritage, and most people have told me my look gives the impression of antagonism, as it’s too serious. If you can believe that :-)

I am in the southeast, so I don’t do the major pow-wow circuits, but locally I do attend them fairly regular. I was president of the parent’s committee for Native American education in our school system (2006-2010), and still weekly work with native children and anyone else who wants to learn drumming, singing, crafts, etc.

Are you still over in Europe or are you back in the states?

For a variety of reasons, I am currently in the USA, just at the edge of making the decision of whether to head back to Germany, or someplace in Europe. That will probably win out, and I will go at some point though it is hard to be away during pow-wow season. I know I’ll miss some good times.

Summer is really magnificent in the area of Germany I lived, so it is also hard to resist not returning if I am well and able. Plus, I miss my friends and family very dearly.

You write Our books. Do your write with more than one name or is there another author who writes with you?

Generally, it’s suggested any profile, etc. be written in third person, so that’s what I did with the headings also. I do not currently write with any other name.

In the past, I have used pseudonyms minimally depending on topic or if you ran across academic journals to which I’ve submitted articles, I’ve used my English name.

This is the one I’m known by. I do not write with any other authors.

I’m being nosey again are you gay?

I have been attracted to different types of people, whatever their gender or sexuality since I was young. I am a single parent and single.  I don’t think it’s nosey necessarily although my sexuality shouldn’t be anyone’s concern. My trademark quote is, “I welcome questions. I hate assumptions.” I’d much rather someone ask me a question directly than assume anything or ask someone who doesn’t personally know me.

Ch-Weh,
Hello Red, my name is Cha Geh Aw Reh Say’ Ewh. (Concerning Heart) in my language. I’m Haudenasaune (People of The Longhouse). I’m of the Tuscarora people. I love saying hello to different Natives. If that is a picture of you above. Your beautiful.

Are u still over in Europe or are you back in the states? You write Our books. Do your write with more than one name or is there another author who writes with you?

Yeah, Yeah, I know I’m being nosey. But sometimes when you want to find things out you have to ask. I see your links, one of the Links is GLBT. I’m being nosey again are you gay? I’m bi and I have several gay men for my bff’s. Everybody deserves to be love and thats how it should be.

With you being Native I wanted to get to know you and possibly become friends. You never can have enough friends. What Nation are you from and do you do the Pow Wow circuit. My son has a drumgroup that travels all over. I’m a dancer and singer with my Nations Dance and Song Troupe and we travel a lot too.
Okay I babbling now. I hope we can be friends. Take care and may the Creator bless you always.
