A long work week, and hadn’t accomplished nearly as much paperwork as I needed to on upcoming projects both for myself and clients, but sometimes you need a time to catch-up with good friends after being so busy, have a few glasses of wine and relax German-style.
And as a private chef, which daily entailed not only preparing the appetizer, entreé and dessert, but also setting a visually tantalizing table creating an atmosphere of simple luxuriousness? I wasn’t so good for I’m too basic, but my friends definitely set a beautiful table.

The German “vacation” house is in the background, its usually a little wooden structure with one basic room that is placed in a garden. Some people who live in the big cities like Berlin, where I live, sometimes rent a small plot of land within a special place just for such houses. They go there on weekends or special days, just for a change of scenery and to be more in nature.

A simple but tasty meal: grilled bratwurst of various kinds, the large ones from the district of Thüringer especially and then ones of rindfleisch from Kobe, Japan. We had the salad, roasted corn as well as baked potatoes in their jackets. I brought chips and great salsa. Then of course, we had a nice aperitif before dinner, then wine with: rose and white, and followed by a digestive: Jägermeister, of course!
